Description

Hulking biomechanical monstrosities that stalk the battlefield during the night, these towering automatons work to harvest organic material and recover damaged cyborgs for repairs and redeployment, ensuring no resources still useful to the Eurasian and Euruskan war machines go to waste. Aside from their gargantuan stature, standing at equal or greater height to other mechs walking the battlefield, the Eurasian MotherCourage nevertheless appears in stark contrast to its contemporaries in that it is a near one to one replication, anatomy wise, of a mature human female, with even tactically superfluous anatomical features such as hair, feet, and breasts finding themselves included in their design, leading to only a few small details such as seams between joints and raised armor plating indicating they are anything but organic. Aiding in this illusion are their most striking feature - their faces. Possessing golden yellow eyes, long black hair, red painted on lipstick, and doll-like skin similar in texture to porcelain, they are equal parts comforting to allies and terrifying to enemies. Despite this apparent focus on appearing as human as possible, MotherCourages will invariably walk in a sinister, hunched over posture, prowling and scanning the ashen ground for any useful material to reclaim, or threat to be eliminated.

Curiously, MotherCourage units appear to sport several articles of non-integrated armor, with upscaled ballistic protection plates similar to those equipped by a standard infantry soldier, strapped on with various belts to both upper thighs and left arm. Possible reasons for this method of upgrade range from a simple increase in protection, to an extension in their psychological effect, with a theorized full set of this armor potentially fully obscuring its artificial appearance, thereby supporting allied comradery and/or enemy confusion. Other elements of attire include the attachment of several defunct Eurasian Cyborg soldiers near their left knee and waist, both full bodied and bisected, highlighting her role as a battlefield scavenger. Presumably, the reason for this behavior is to assist in recovery of Eurasian assets, shepherding these broken units back behind friendly lines for either reactivation or raw recycling. In this endeavor, MotherCourage is often followed alongside by numerous operational Cyborgs in varying states of repair, assisting her in both offense and defense.

Aside from immense physical strength and near insurmountable durability, weapons-wise, MotherCourage units are armed solely with a set of ten razor-sharp blades, one being mounted to the tip of each individual finger. While typically favoring brute-force dismemberment as an approach upon the capture of a target, these blades nevertheless carry a two-fold purpose. Combat is the most obvious usage for them - rending, slicing, and stabbing any foe foolish enough to come within range. Less obvious, however, lies again within their operations as salvage units. Just as they collect broken Cyborgs for repurposing, so too do they collect organic resources, extracting organs still viable for transplant from both the living and the dead.

Given their macabre, near biological appearance, supportive combat role, harvesting of organics, and regular battlefield proximity to Euruskan units such as the Euruskan Grabbers, there exists a possibility that development and deployment of MotherCourages are not solely the domain of Eurasia and may instead be something of a cooperative effort between Eurasia and Euruska, though this remains speculation.

Location

Mother Courage can only be found during Night Shift, and does not appear on smaller maps like Mech Trenches or Scrapyard Nexus.

Strategy

Avoid at all costs. Mother Courage can not be defeated by small arms fire, and are often accompanied by swarms of Eurasian Cyborgs, or even worse, a Euruskan Grabber. The best approach is to turn the other way and run, or pray you can find shelter that they can not reach into. Rarely, you can attempt to distract them by luring them towards a Corpse Tank, but seeing as those are an even rarer occurrence, this should not be considered a reliable strategy.

If they succeed in catching a Scav, they will initiate an unavoidable grab, tearing off the Scav's arms for an instant kill.

Despite being indestructible by normal means, Mother Courage can be disabled using around 5 Railgun shots, which will cause it to drop a drillable Codex container.

• The official Discord server shows an unreleased death animation by Mother Courage where she is shown snatching Old Man with a smile on her face. She then proceeds to lick him and ultimately chomps his head off.
