"I am the conduit. The human is the hand."

Personal Info

Sentient Combat AI.

  • Skills focus on weapon use exclusively.
  • High initial HP, but CAN NOT heal or be revived!
    • Besides healing consumables, Gunhead is also unable to use other "organic" consumables like Cigs.
  • Initially programmed to use ALL weapon types.
    • Gunhead cannot aim down sights (ADS) and is restricted to third-person aiming.
This synergizes well with the Painless HMG as its ADS is non-existent.
  • Initially programmed to use all Rigs

Gunhead is currently the only character with an active ability--the eponymous head gun--mapped to the utility button (Default: Q) and mouse button 5 (MB5) (not customizable, not listed under keybinds).

  • The head gun automatically tracks enemies at 40 meters in a frontal 180-degree arc; it will usually track the first enemy that comes into range or the enemy closest to the player's crosshair.
    • It will not fire if no enemy is in range or locked.
  • Ammo is limited to the reserves stored in the head gun and cannot be replenished with ammo from the Rig inventory. Ammo counts are noted next to their respective skill.
    • The head gun's ammo can only be replenished during a raid if the player extracts to or exits from the Tunnels.
  • Much like a normal gun, the head gun will fire when holding down the trigger (utility button) and stop when releasing it.
  • The head gun can target both organic and mechanical units, including tanks, drones, and mechs.
  • The head gun is still capable of firing at targets while Gunhead is sprinting or staggered.
  • The head weapon is not suppressed, so care must be taken while shooting as it can draw additional enemies.

Head weapon effective ranges:

  • APC9: 20 meters
  • AK: 40 meters
  • RPD: 40 meters
  • AA12 (bugged): 15 meters

Lore

According to G-Head Log 02.32552-, Gunhead is a type of Europan law enforcement automaton that was repurposed for frontline combat and fire support. When Europa was originally founded, it involved the suspension of 'most' Western democracies, consisting of the original set of founding member nations of Europa. Many countries were uninterested in joining as they would not have as much power within Europa as the founding members, subsequently leading to their annexation into Europa in the following years. Anti-Europan riots broke out in several cities in these countries, which quickly devolved into mass rioting and civil unrest. As there was a shortage of fighting-age men not already serving in Europa's armed forces, Europa turned to private corporations to fill the gap in domestic law enforcement. One of these corporations decided to outfit the mechanical humanoid automatons that helped with building the megacities with weapon systems, which resulted in the G-Head Mark I.

Early successes with the unit pushed it into a wider law enforcement role, and G-Head units were deployed in tactical and defense roles (e.g., protecting government, commercial, food production, and distribution buildings). Eventually, it was decided that the unit was still too limited and needed to be further upgraded to respond to heavy civil unrest and large-scale riots. G-Head units were given a slightly more complex AI capable of basic problem-solving (but still subservient to its instructions) and deployed as part crowd-control and part kill-team. Furthermore, the units were also dispatched to take care of "less savory" tasks, such as opening fire on civilians, carrying out torture, and conducting executions; Europa is stated to not be overly concerned about public perception or overstepping the Geneva Convention. After each assignment, the G-Head units were given new rules of engagement and parameters to better complete their tasks (for example, hostage rescues required more nuanced approaches that the G-Head units were not originally designed to adopt). Over time, the G-Head units showed more signs of complex thought, and subsequent patches only made the units more volatile and glitchy as the patches were deployed haphazardly.

After the war broke out, the G-Head units were pushed into frontline service and given to special forces units as fire support. Homegrown upgrades and specific mission updates started to overlap, and the prolonged conflict and the irregularity of consistent maintenance gave way to rumors of AWOL G-Head units that went rogue after deployments lasting more than 1,026 days; some G-Head units were rumored to have developed personalities and gained sentience. As such, it is unclear how Gunhead came to be allied with the Scavengers: whether it willingly defected from Europa or was scavenged on the field is unclear.

Miscellaneous

  • Gunhead does not use stamina as resource for any action that would otherwise require it, thus making it able to execute such actions indefinitely, like sprinting.
  • It is the scav with the third shortest loot delay (about ~0.6s to open any container).
