Description

A variant of the Eurasian Cyborg, the Cyborg Runner is a slightly faster, unarmed variant, with behaviour akin to that of a stereotypical zombie. They bear less armour, and are relatively easy to take down.

Cyborg Runners spawn in packs of up to 6, generally patrolling a small area. They're easy to avoid, and even if alerted, hold no immediate threat due to their lack of ranged weaponry. At most, 6 bodyshots from even the weakest rifle, or one point-blank shot from a shotgun, will be enough to take one down. However, multiple packs will often spawn in nearby proximity to each other, so make sure not to get overrun.

Location

Cyborg Runners can be found on every map, both during the day and during night shift, with a far higher spawn rate. Wherever there is heavy gunfire, there will be runners.

One surefire way to find runners is on the map Scrapyard Nexus. Upon activating the extract, 2-3 waves of Cyborg Runners will charge the player Scav from either side of the crossroads. These waves will usually consist of 6-8 runners, with some of them being crawler or scrambler variants. Many players find it an effective spot to farm specific items and EXP.

Strategy

Any gun mentioned will be using a silencer.

Unless you have ammo coming out the wazoo, it's generally not considered wise to spend larger, more expensive calibers on runners. This being said, if you would like to bodyshot a runner with a 36M AntiTank, I wouldn't blame you. It's damn fun. However, if you're a sensible Scav, you would use either a mid-caliber, automatic weapon, such as the RPK or M4A1 (the larger the magazine size, the better), or, if you prefer a more ranged playstyle, a DMR such as the R11 RSASS is a versatile pick, with a larger mag, but a downside of medium damage, or alternatively, the SVD as a higher damage option, with the tradeoff of a lower mag size.

Both have their upsides, and their downsides. A mid-caliber automatic weapon is a great option to dispose of swarms or surprise attacks quickly, however, they are far less reliable at range, which may lead to you missing a headshot and alerting nearby infantry. A DMR can dispose of entire swarms at range reliably, but will lack the sheer volume of damage output in more close-quarters engagements, potentially leaving you in a position to be swarmed.

Variants

There are two variants of the Cyborg Runner.

The first is the crawler. These are semi-destroyed Runner units with missing legs, therefore using their front limbs to slowly crawl their way around. They are excruciatingly slow, deal minimal damage, and are barely a threat.

The second is the scrambler. These are regular Runners on extreme stimulants. Lowered down on all fours, they utilise their quadrupedal stance to move extremely quickly, and with great unpredictability, often being easy to miss due to their low profile and erratic movements. Full-auto is the recommended course of action.

Trivia

On the cyborgs' legs, there is a Mandarin inscription that reads: "夜下跳舞,我們在荧光", which literally means "Dancing in the night, we are under the fluorescent." A similar but reworded phrase can be found on the Eurasian Chopper.
